The Supre Yoga Philosophy

When I speak to people about why they don't practice yoga, I often hear one answer: "I am not flexible."

Yoga is not for the flexible. It is for the willing.

Our mind controls our body. If your mind is flexible enough to think you can, "You without a doubt can"

ASHTANGA YOGA

Ashtanga means eight (ashta) limbs (anga). Vinyasa meaning breathing and movement. When put together, it is the movement of the eight limbs or branches of postures combined with our breath. This practice will leave your body balanced and strong, mind clear and focused, and soul clean, empowered and free.

With the same series of poses in every session using a breath that builds what we call an ‘internal fire’ we will deepen your practice and detoxify the body through sweating.

Everyone who likes a challenge, a workout and doesn’t mind
getting a little sweaty.

HATHA YOGA

Hatha literally means ‘force’ and thus, alludes to a system of physical techniques. With this type of yoga, you will move your body slowly and deliberately into different poses that challenge your strength and flexibility, while at the same time focusing on relaxation and mindfulness.

We will practise a vast range of poses and breathing techniques to help you increase strength and flexibility

VINYASA FLOW

Vinyasa is a style of yoga characterised by stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. Commonly referred to as “flow” yoga, it is sometimes confused with power yoga“.

At Supre Yoga, Vinyasa classes offer a variety of postures and no two classes are ever alike.

RESTORATIVE YOGA

Restorative Yoga is the practice of asanas, each held for longer than in conventional yoga as exercise classes, sometimes for twenty minutes, so a session may consist of only four to six asanas, often with the support of props such as bolsters, blocks, pillows or folded blankets, to relax the body, reduce stress, and often to prepare for pranayama (breathwork)
Restorative Yoga allows the body to slow down and relax in a small number of asanas

WHO IS THIS CLASS SUITABLE FOR

 

Everyone (this class is beneficial for anyone suffering from pain related to injuries, stress or illness)

Meet Sulekha: Your Guide

My journey with yoga started young. Growing up in India, I was introduced to some yoga practices, both at school and at home. What I didn’t know then and realised when I rediscovered yoga was that it is not just a practice of Asanas (poses) or Pranayama (breathing), but a way of life

 

I base my practice of yoga on some core beliefs. Yoga is an exercise for our mind, body and soul. It is a way to connect with our true and deeper selves, learn and accept ourselves, and believe that we are enough. Yoga develops inner awareness. However, yoga is different for everyone and is different every day. It can be whatever you want it to be for you. 

 

The name for the studio comes from the name my father uses for me, Supre. Short for Supriya, in Sanskrit and Hindi, the word translates to Loved by All. I hope that Supre Yoga Studio becomes a place loved by all, whether to practice Asanas, breathe, or simply surrender to the mats to find peace, quiet and happiness.
